Artist Residencies: Nurturing Young Minds
Our artist residencies go beyond the traditional model. They serve as a platform for artistic growth and community engagement. Our objectives include:
Feed the Critic: This unique event brings artists together for constructive criticism and feedback. It's a potluck-style gathering where artists share their work and receive insights from respected artists and art writers.
Professional Advising: Resident artists will meet with represented artists for studio visits, networking opportunities, portfolio reviews, critiques, casual meet-ups, or scheduled phone conversations, creating a culture of collaboration and growth within our community. .
Open Studios: Our resident artists will open their studios during our monthly gallery receptions as a means to further engage patrons and the community with their work and the residency program.
2024 Artist in Residence
-

Jozie Bullard
During the 2023 Spring Salon at detroit contemporary an anonymous group of jurors selected Jozie Bullard from the exhibition’s 108 participants to be considered for an artist in residency in 2024.
Bullard’s residency will begin in January 2024 and end in June. During their residency they will be preparing work for their solo exhibition in July and will have access to professional advising from represented artists & board members. Our residents will also have the opportunity to engage with the community on a broader level by facilitating Feed the Critic and hosting open studios during our gallery receptions.
