Emily Gustafson

Emily Gustafson was born and raised in the suburbs of Metro Detroit. She studied painting, sculpture, drawing, and art history at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, the University of Arts in Philadelphia, and Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills where she earned an MFA in Painting. All throughout her studies Emily worked in numerous art museums and preschools as an exhibition technician and educator and until finding her true vocation as Art Teacher of the Detroit Waldorf School, where she is now inspired daily by the brilliance of 10 to 14-year-old people. Emily’s practice is informed by her interests in fractal geometry, the Uncanny, social justice, anthroposophy, child development, music, mythology, nature and love.
